RACESPOT PORTFOLIO OF WORK & PARTNERS

/PORSCHE ESPORTS

From a national to global level RaceSpot TV and RaceSpot Live Events have enjoyed a successful partnership with Porsche since 2018, when Porsche launched their entry into competitive Esports Racing with the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup by iRacing.

This partnership has grown and developed organically, delivering part of Porsche’s first ever on site Esports event, responding to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and developing a suite of services for national level competition. Porsche are a company with exacting expectations, and we’ve been privileged to work alongside them to meet these. This has been founded in our ability to be adaptable and innovative in our working practices, alongside our reputation for being concise and proactive participants in meeting their overall objectives.

SUMMARY OF WORK: 2018 – 2024

2018 - Porsche Sim Racing Summit
We supported Porsche’s launch intio competitive Esports racing at the Porsche Sim Racing Summit held in Leipzig Germany. On a 6 week timeframe we were able to put together teams to support the administration, running and internal broadcasting of the event, working directly alongside Porsche and their media agency FUSE.

Our team ensured smooth movement of drivers through the various races, addressed technical issues with rigs, provided a comprehensive race control and stewarding system, and provided a full on site broadcast with customised graphics and expert commentary to suit Porsche branding. We were directly responsible for rig setup and maintanace, as well as troubleshooting hardware and software issues that may have arisen during the event.

It was at this event that Porsche announced the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup by iRacing. This event also saw the formation of RaceSpot Live Events.
2019 - IAA Frankfurt: Making History
RaceSpot TV had the privilege of broadcasting the first series of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup by iRacing; a 10 race season featuring some of the most skilled Esport Sim Racing drivers. This event was broadcast on various social media channels worldwide, and received significant praise from Porsche.

A special round of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup by iRacing was held at IAA Frankfurt, one of the world’s largest automotive shows, and Porsche’s first ever live Esports event in a public setting. RaceSpot Live Events provided on site support at the event in terms of preparing and setting up rigs during the public days of the event, running live race control on site, and providing in game footage intermersed with Porsche content to a worldwide audience. This necessitated the need to work with commentators off-site, so required consistent and accurate lines of communication from site based staff in order to be successful.
2020 - Adapting To COVID-19, Delivering Virtual Replicas Of Series
When COVID-19 caused the global shutdown and restriction of movement of people, Porsche had a dilemma in terms of continuing its championships, most notably the Mobil 1 Supercup. RaceSpot worked directly with Porsche and TV partners across Europe to ensure smooth delivery of a Virtual Mobil 1 Supercup, including sponsor and segment integration as would have been the case on the ‘trackside’ version of a broadcast. Ultimately, these productions were shown on Eurosport, TV1 (Germany), Ziggo Sports (Netherlands), and on Porsche’s official social media channels.

RaceSpot continued its role in supporting the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup by iRacing with both commentary and production talent. In addition, RaceSpot worked with Porsche to provide a branded broadcast of the inaugural Virtual Le Mans 24 Hour Race, which was a partnership between the ACO and Motorsport Games. The feed included an in depth behind the scenes look at the partnership between Coanda Esports and Porsche, as well as providing overlapping coverage with the main broadcast feed. .
2021 & 2022- Flirting With The All-Stars, Going National
RaceSpot Live Events were responsible for running the first Porsche All Stars Series, which served as a support series to the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup by iRacing. This series brought together a number of Sim Racing influencers and personalities, pitting them in a two race format before each of the World Championship races. RaceSpot were responsible for all commentary, hosting and production tasks, as well as managing and regulating the series. This involved securing compliant racing liveries, designing and implementing rulebooks and briefings, and reviewing on track incidents post-facto.

At this time RaceSpot also commenced broadcasting of a number of Porsche National Series, as part of a Sim Racing version of the Porsche Carrera Cup, which serves as a national feeder series to the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Porsche’s motorsport ladder. This has involved working closely with Porsche’s local management and marketing partners to deliver a uniform yet diverse product. .
2023 – Porsche Coanda Esports, 24 Hours In Gronau, Rennsport
2023 kicked off with a bang, as RaceSpot Live Events worked directly with Porsche Coanda Esports on location in Gronau in Germany to deliver a branded feed of the third 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual. This involved a full studio host setup, with roaming reporting for an in depth look at how Porsche Coanda Esports operate in a high-pressured 24-hour event. As hosts, the team broke down various storylines pertaining to the four cars running under the Porsche Coanda Esports banner, delving into detailed data analysis as well as providing high levels of fan engagement.

2023 also saw further development of bespoke Sim Racing broadcast products for Porsche on a national level, working both with iRacing and later Rennsport. Our involvement with Rennsport from an early stage enabled us to be one of the first broadcasters to run events on the service, which will continue on in years to come.

EXPERIENCES WORKING WITH PORSCHE

It’s fair to say that there’s not many companies that have the allure and prestige of Porsche. To be trusted with bringing some of their visions of a competitive Esports competition to fruition in various capacities has been a truly one of a kind experience, and we are constantly impressed and astounded by the level of detail and consideration that goes into every aspect of working an event with them.

We are proud to have been working with Porsche in their entry to competitive Esports competition through the Porsche Sim Racing Summit then the IAA Frankfurt, and being a part of the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Championship with iRacing. Working the 24 Hours Le Mans Virtual has presented unique opportunities and challenges and being able to methodically work towards a successful outcome has been both enlightening and rewarding.

We see Porsche as a long term client, and are excited to see where our collective journey continues as we move into doing more National championships and projects on new simulation platforms such as Rennsport. Porsche are one of the backbones of motorsport, and we are grateful for their continued support and investment in our product.

Working with Porsche has been a one of a kind relationship, built over years of mutual trust, and the desire to push the boundaries of what can be done in terms of competitive Esports competition. Whilst at times the work has been tough and to very tight deadlines, it has always been rewarding.

It’s been a pleasure working with Nina, Marius, Marco, Sebastian & X from the various Porsche Teams and we look forward to carrying on our relationship for many years to come!

Wil Vincent – CEO: RaceSpot Live Events.
